Battle Road Trail undergoing extensive work

The five-mile Battle Road Trail, which winds through parts of Lexington, Lincoln, and Concord, is undergoing extensive renovations, according to a statement from Minute Man National Historical Park. Sections of the trail at Hartwell Tavern will be closed for the next six weeks. There will be a pedestrian trail detour, which is narrow and not suitable for bicycles, runners, or strollers. The project is expected to take place from Monday, Nov. 20, through Dec. 31. Additional work at North Bridge will begin next April 23 and run through June. The trail runs from Meriam’s Corner in Concord to the Ebenezer Fiske house site on the park’s eastern boundary in Lexington. “This is the first major rehabilitation to the Battle Road Trail in quite a long time, and is long overdue,” said BJ Dunn, the historical park’s superintendent.
