The town of Upton has notified residents that a water sample collected early this month from the Glen Avenue well field tested positive for E. coli. Samples collected that day, however, did not detect any contaminants in the town’s water distribution system, nor did subsequent test results on samples collected Nov. 18. The Glen Avenue well remains isolated from the larger system pending further test results and possible corrective actions. Residents’ drinking water remains safe for consumption; they do not need to boil their water or take other precautions.
