The Shrewsbury Public Library will be hosting “Something Ugly,” a celebration of ugly holiday sweaters. On Thursday, Nov. 30, adults and teenagers are invited to bring a sweater and decorate it in an ugly and fun way. The library says it will “provide the ugly,” but participants are welcome to bring their own ugly garments to the library’s large meeting room at 7:15 p.m. Cookies will also be provided. Guests who wish to attend need not register in advance.

The Friends of the Northborough Library is hosting its annual “Northboro Holiday Trolley Book Sale” on Friday, Dec. 1, from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be a selection of fiction and nonfiction books for adults, teenagers, and children, each priced at $2. The sale will be at the Northborough Library at 34 Main St.
