A Providence man was indicted Friday on a charge of beating his infant daughter to death. Christopher Jimenez was arrested June 20, hours after the baby, Christina, was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital with skull fractures, broken bones, brain swelling, and a lacerated liver. She was 5 weeks old. She was taken off life support three weeks later. Prosecutors say Jimenez told police he dropped, sat on, squeezed, and hit the baby. The Providence Journal reported that a grand jury indicted Jimenez Friday on two counts of first-degree child abuse and one count of second-degree murder. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court on Jan. 2. (AP)
