Fund-raiser for nightclub fire memorial is Friday

The foundation working to build a permanent memorial at the site of a 2003 Rhode Island nightclub fire that killed 100 people said sales are picking up for its first major fund-raiser, a comedy show Friday night at the Providence Performing Arts Center. The show is scheduled to be hosted by Dee Snider of Twisted Sister and NBC’s ‘‘Celebrity Apprentice’’ and will feature performers including Craig Gass, Jim Florentine, and Don Jamieson. Victoria Eagan, vice president of the Station Fire Memorial Foundation, said Wednesday that sales are still not great, but have improved in recent weeks after a slow start.
