Dean at Brown to become Connecticut College president

The dean of the College at Brown University is departing to become the next president of Connecticut College. Katherine Bergeron will leave the Ivy League school at the end of the fall semester. Her appointment as the 11th president of Connecticut College in New London is effective Jan. 1. In their announcement on her departure, Brown president Christina Paxson and provost Mark Schlissel called Bergeron an accomplished scholar and skilled administrator. The professor of musicology was recruited to Brown from the University of California Berkeley in 2004. She served as chairwoman of the Music Department in 2005, then was appointed dean of undergraduate education the next year.
