House Democrats urge Senate vote on nominee for consumer watchdog agency

Democratic Members of the House Financial Services Committee urged the Senate’s top Republican today to allow a vote on the nomination of Richard Cordray, a former Ohio attorney general, to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In a letter to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, 27 Democrats, including three from the Bay State, said that it is “unfathomable” that “any federal legislator would stand in the way of ensuring comprehensive protections for military families, the elderly and all Americans.”
