Hedge fund chiefs lead donors group backing Romney
Restore Our Future, a super PAC supporting Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, raised $30.1 million last year, with numerous large donations coming from the financial sector. The political action committee has played a major role in giving Romney an edge up in the presidential race, bankrolling attack ads against former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, while allowing Romney to maintain some distance from the attacks. The super PAC has spent around $17 million so far. By law, super PACs can collect and spend unlimited donations, but cannot coordinate with the candidate.
