Obama donations fall short of ’08

Campaign downplays import of Jan. figures

President Obama did not raise as much money from supporters last month as he did during January 2008 in his first campaign for the White House, a Globe analysis shows.

Presumably the next story in this theme will compare the number of votes Obama has received in primaries this year and compare it to what he had in 2008, because that's about as relevant.

Gee, I was planning to donate 57 cents to the campaign for Boomerang Barry, but this snotty demand that everybody give to his superpac tells me to put my money back in the pig. Imagine, an incombent president who wants to spend a billion to buy a second four years of free rent for himself. And I thought Newt is zany.

My take is, due to reports on the size of his campaign chest, and his incumbency, people feel he's all set. If he says he needs more, I think people will send him something much as they did before.
