Obama stumps for his ‘use less oil’ energy policy

Politics play into speech at N.C. plant

President Obama on Wednesday made his most urgent appeal yet for the nation to wean itself from oil, calling it a “fuel of the past’’ and demanding that the United States broaden its approach to energy. Mindful of the political dangers of high gas prices, he said shrinking demand for oil must drive the solution.

More rethoric. This is what we elected him to do? Lead don't plead.

From- PLUG-IN CARS "We are getting ready to publish a full set of hybrid, clean diesel and plug-in sales numbers for the monthly market dashboard on HybridCars.com. Here's what we already know: General Motors sold 493 VOLTS in April, representing a decline from the 608 SOLD IN MARCH. Meanwhile, Nissan bumped up deliveries of the LEAF from 298 in March to 573 in April 2011." SO- WE HAVE, MAYBE, TEN TYHOUSAND PLUG-IN CARS ON THE ROAD.Pres. Obama wants ONE MILLION PLUG IN CARS ON THE ROAD BY 2015. Three years. AND he wants to spend ONE BILLION of our hard earned tax money to do it. Remember SOLYNDRA.

Nice Mr. President. That's your answer? What's your answer to the rising food prices? Eat less?

The problem with Obama's energy policy is that he wants to curb fossil fuel consumption via use of federal regulations that impose needlessly heavy costs on the economy and that curb individual consumer choice. Why should we mandate that CAFE standards rise dramatically, thereby raising the price of new vehicles? Why not simply tax motor fuels more heavily and use the extra revenues to permanently cut payroll taxes? Then motorists can freely choose whether to buy small high mileage vehicles or simply drive fewer miles per year. Obama, Chu, etc. simply don't understand that we need to protect the environment while preserving individual freedom. They are perfectly comfortable with mandates and regulations that curb individual liberty.

More mush from the chief. Wasn't there a famous Glob editorial that contained such a sentiment? Here we have Barry going to the plant where a European maker manufactures large trucks... while Barry wastes more and more aviation fuel - probably paid for by taxpayers if he or his minions can think up the faintest excuse - flitting here and there to excoriate Americans for using oil. There is a story going around that Barry had somebody put some kind of amoeba-like creature in a jug of water with the idea that it could be put into a motor vehicle's tank for propulstion. We need more of that to inject some Saturday Night Live type humor into an increasingly l-o-o-0-n-n-n-g and boring presidential campaign. At least Billybob Clinton could play the sax and enjoy a bit of free time with a California bimbo. All Barry can do is pretend to warble Motown style, and that not very tunefully. As for a bimbo... well... we don't know now, do we?

So a wasted 4 - hopefully not 8- years where we do nothing to tap our own reserves. It will be dismissed becuase he (CEO of American Petroleum Institute, Jack Gerard,) is an oil exec but pretty interesting comments: Over the next two decades we could add the equivalent of 10 million barrels of oil per day to supply our energy needs. Markets built on expectations would see that America plans to be an energy leader, not a follower. http://www.therightscoop.com/energy-ceo-calls-out-obama-on-weak-energy-policy-says-he-can-lower-energy-costs/

You think you are joking, right? If she could, the First Lady would put us on calorie quotas to prevent obesity. Perhaps after the re-election of her husband?
