We already know that the two of them scuffled so it wouldn't be a big surprise if Zimmerman did have some injuries. It still doesn't tell us anything about what happened. The only thing we know for certain is that Zimmerman was told not to go in pursuit of Martin, but he did it anyway. Whatever happened was set in motion by that initial bad act of Zimmerman's.
