Obama criticizes GOP budget, calls Romney out

Says fiscal plan protects the rich, decimates poor

President Obama painted a stark contrast between his visions on health care, taxes and the federal budget and that of Congressional Republicans in a speech to the nation’s newspaper editors on Tuesday. His hour-long appearance at a luncheon sponsored by the Associated Press at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park had the echoes of a campaign speech, highlighting some of the same themes he put forth during his State of the Union address such as the growing chasm between the country’s wealthy and the middle class.

Imagine that a budget, something our federal government hasn't had in 3 years, just spending.

Mitt-boy used the word marvelous because he thinks that is the word that Reagan would have used. It's almost hysterical to watch how much he tries to channel Reagan using mannerisms, words, and tone. You can judge a person by who he hangs out with. Romney hangs with Governor Walker, Paul Ryan, and every other member of the 'I'm doing fine, so screw the rest' crowd.

Too bad he is all talk. His budget is all spending and no solution to the problems we have now and going into the future. Harry Reid and the Democrat controlled senate will not even offer up a budget and have not done so now for three years. We all know how it should be done. Each offered their budget and have conference committees meet to arrived at a compromise so that the Country can have a budget like most households. This is totally the blame game the Democrats are doing. Wait - it's all Bush's fault.

Compare the subheadline "Says fiscal plan protects the rich, decimates poor" with the first sentence "President Obama eviscerated the Republicans' budget proposal Tuesday, calling it a radical blueprint that bolsters the rich and decimates the middle class". Besides all the news that fits in the column, are there any honesty criteria for sub-headlines? Does the headline writer see any distinction between the "poor" and the "middle-class"? Is there any political significance in using one phrase versus the other? Does the Globe editorial opinion control what is in the news section? Even though the Globe is now owned by the notorious New York Times, I still would have expected better from The Globe.

Did my tax dollars pay for the gasoline that powered Barry's trip to this speechification session? It's nice to see that chief Boston Glob Demohack propagandist G. Johnson has a truncheon named Jan to help out in the spread-the-word-and-wack-the-GOP effort.

No recovery in 3+ years and he deserves a second term? The following houses have lowered Q1 GDP: > > BAC, GS, Barclays, Noumura, DB, MS… most to just above 2% (2.1% for GS from 2.3%) or > just below ( Nomura 1.9% from 2.1%). Barclays lowered their estimates by a full 0.4% > to 2% flat.

2011: Yesterday, the Senate rejected by a 0-97 vote the budget proposed by Barack Obama: 2012: 414-0

The United States has now gone almost three years without a budget, because Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats refuse to propose or adopt one. President Obama's proposed budgets have failed to gain a single vote in support: his FY 2012 budget was voted down in the Senate last year, 97-0, and his FY 2013 budget was voted down in the House this year, 414-0. The Democrats love to castigate the House Republican budget; fine. But why won't they propose, and pass, their own?
