Public funds passé as super PACs dominate

The fall campaign for the White House has unofficially begun, and money is still the mother’s milk of presidential politics. But a volatile new element, the sugar daddy, has been injected into this cycle through the rise of super PACs, which can accept unlimited contributions from wealthy individuals, corporations, and labor unions as a result of a 2010 Supreme Court ruling. So far, the vast majority of mega-checks is gushing into Republican coffers, making some Democrats very nervous.
