Police recruit fired over beard, he says

NEW YORK - An Orthodox Jewish man who was weeks away from becoming a police officer says he has been kicked out of the police academy for refusing to trim his beard. New York Police Department rules usually require officers to be clean-shaven but allow religious exemptions if the beards do not exceed 1 millimeter of growth.
