Mitt Romney reveals London fund-raising events

WASHINGTON – On the eve of the Olympics, Mitt Romney is planning two separate fund-raising events in central London hosted by banking industry officials, according to copies of the invitations obtained by the Globe.

The events involve a reception — at a cost of $2,500 per person — and a high-dollar “private dinner with Governor Mitt Romney” that will cost $25,000 to $75,000 per person.

Why is Romney courting overseas donors for his campaign? Do they get a "certain level of access" in return? This is a campaign for the President of the United States, for American citizens to make a decision on who will lead the country for the next four years. Is Romney trying to drown his opponent's voice in a sea of cash? IMHO, overseas fundraisers courting donors who are not US citizens is inappropriate. Any funds raised from non-US citizens should be returned. After all, he apparently has his own funds offshore. He can tap those instead.

@GrnMachine as the article states, those who are not US citizen already are not allowed to donate. One can either support or oppose Romney's apparent courting of big banking, but the bankers in attendance are US citizens working overseas.

Note the editorial comment in the headline: "Romney reveals ...". The Globe's promotion of Obama, Lizzy Warren and Company never ends.

What would be acceptable to you? Just curious.

Biden asserts that Romney is secretive about tax records - and Obama's academic and medical records? is george clooney hosting the london event too?
