UNITED NATIONS — The head of the Arab League called Wednesday for the international community to criminalize blasphemy, warning that insults to religion pose a serious threat to global peace and security.
The comments put Nabil Elaraby squarely at odds with the United States and many of its Western allies, which are resolutely opposed to restrictions on freedom of expression.

If holocaust denial is included in the definition of 'blasphemy', the notion is worth considering.
Are we headed for another religious war? This is so against everything Americans and the West in general believe. Freedom vs. slavery and persecution.
Ignorance. Muslims make statements about other religions all the time. What many of them seem to be shooting for is disparagement of other religions but not Islam. Many Muslims have no concept of free speech. Also, the Quran says " To each among you have We prescribed a law and an open way.If God had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but His plan is to test you in what He has given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. the goal of you all is to God: It is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute." My belief is that many in the Arab world are illiterate and have never read the Quran but rely on others to quote it, usually with bisa one way or another.
Does that mean the Muslims cannot insult other religions and what will the liberals do when they cannot paint Jesus in a jar of urine or the Blessed Mother with elephant dung...
You do for one you do for all religions...but that will not happen...just look at the copic christians being murdered and their churchs burned and that is in the last year.

How about the problem of many Muslims targeting non-Muslims as "infidels" who should be killed? That's pretty insulting. maybe even blasphemous. They really only have the right to enforce their sharia laws in Muslim theocracies, and certainly not anywhere else in the world.
I would argue the cause of basic humanity demands that Sharia Law be outlawed even in Muslim theocracies. Why should the women and children behind enemy lines be sacrificed for these animals?
If you give in to these losers they will have a boot on your ancestor's children's throats!!! Obama is paid to 'defend the constitution' NOT to apologize to these animals!!!! Obama should be rejected for that alone!!!
What hypocrisy! Many of the Arab League countries not only condone derision of other religions, but rountinely promote anti-jewish cartoons and slurs in their government sponsored press and in their schools. And, as mentioned in a previous comment, they are constantly persecuting the remaining christians in their countries. They are completely out of touch with reality and morally bankrupt!
