Another death reported in meningitis outbreak


The death toll from the fungal meningitis outbreak tied to a Framingham compounding pharmacy rose to 21, as the number of illnesses rose to 271, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The outbreak has been linked to steroid shots for back pain. The medication has been recalled.

Illnesses have been reported in 16 states so far: Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
