Court bars Ind. defunding of Planned Parenthood

Upholds finding that state violated federal rules

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana stepped between women and their physicians when it enacted a law that blocked Medicaid funds for Planned Parenthood just because the organization provides abortions, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday.

The US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago upheld a lower court’s finding that Indiana violated federal regulations when it enacted a law that denied Planned Parenthood Medicaid funds for general health services including cancer screenings.

Finally. I have a right to my healthcare. Think of it this way: I disagree with covering Viagra. I disagree with invitro with random donors. I disagree with inviro in women over 45. I don't want to fund them because, on moral grounds, I think they are wrong. Should I be allowed to dictate the healthcare options of other women? No, of course not. I can disagree but it is not my body. I believe what I believe and I should act accordingly but I cannot dictate to another woman.
