White House was told early of terrorist claim in attack

Administration says it was just one piece of data

WASHINGTON — Two hours after the US Consulate came under attack in Benghazi, Libya, the White House was told that a militant group was claiming responsibility for the violence that killed the US ambassador and three other Americans.

A State Department e-mail sent to intelligence officials and the White House situation room said the Islamist group Ansar al-Sharia claimed responsibility on Facebook and Twitter and also called for an attack on the US Embassy in Tripoli.

It's hard to believe Obama is campaigning on the issue of "who do you trust".  Biden made a bold face lie in his debate when he stated that the white house was not informed of any terrorist involvement during the first week after the attack.  Bold lies to cover incompetence.

“I have been asked by one of our spokespeople to relay ‘that we decline to comment,’” said White House National Security Staff aide Debbie Bird in a written response to CNSNews.com.
