Obama campaign targets younger voters

COLUMBUS, Ohio – It was Halloween night, and the Obama campaign operation was in full motion on the campus of Ohio State University. A smiling 17-year-old student in a headscarf was holding a sign, “Gotta Vote,” even though she was too young to do so, as dozens of students boarded a chartered bus taking them to a precinct to cast the first ballots of their life.

“It definitely seems like a myth that students have stopped caring about elections,” said Christian Watson, an 18-year-old music education major from Novelty, Ohio.

"we know who we need to vote and we know how to communicate with them".   That means "find the old angry whit men andscare them".  Shameless.

Of, course, this isn't news, it's an opionion piece. Matt, the Globe, and the Obama campaign know that older voters are wise enough to know that the Obama campaign is nothing but smoke and mirrors. "But many students seem reluctant to blame Obama for the economy' says Matt. That's what the Globe and the Obama campaign WANT EVERYBODY to think, old and young. Let Mr. Obama claim credit for any successes, including those that he had nothing to do with, and blame George Bush (or even Mitt Romney if possible) for the continued series of FAILURES. Or blame everything on "Global Warming"/Climate change. ..THAT's IT! Barack Obama has failed only because of unusual weather patterns and climate change.

The Bush/Romney/Ryan policies were horrible for the economy.  It is fair, right, and sensible to blame them.

Naturally younger people support Obama.  They have had no real life experience yet, they don't contribute to the economy, their idealistic to the point of blindness, and right now receive, or would like to receive,  far, far, more from the government then they give.  Oh, and they hate successful people and want part of their wealth.  Perfect little Democrats.

Interesting, these negative comments below... young people support Obama because of issues: women's health and contraceptive care, gay rights, and the social safety net, and the value of equality and fairness for all.  Well-informed voters support Obama because they know he inherited a mess and, while not happy with the pace of improvement, know that things have gotten better since he took office.  Stakiinnh's comment is particularly telling, since s/he dismisses these involved and educated young people as naive slackers.  It's not fair.  You should beware unfairness, though.  Fairness is a value for young as well as old, and it is one of the reasons many moderate Republicans I have spoken to will be voting for Obama.

what do these young voters want??????? Jobs vote for Mitt Romney free contraceptives, cell phones, abortions, food stamps and live at home with parents until age 26 so you can have health insurance because you cannot find a job....vote for Pres. Obama.

It make me sick to think of Obama & Axlerod & the Chicago gang's old tricks with a fresh crop of naive voters.

Definition of naive: "Lacking worldly experience and understanding, especially: Showing or characterized by a lack of sophistication and critical judgment."

What is even worse - is when you consider the number of people who can't remember 4 years.
