WASHINGTON — The handicapping began even before all the votes were counted.
Thomas Wright, a foreign policy specialist at the Brookings Institution, posted on his Twitter account early Wednesday that the election “is very good news for John Kerry’s prospects for secretary of state.” Within hours Russian and British press reports made it sound all but a foregone conclusion that the Massachusetts Democrat will be elevated to the position of America’s top diplomat in President Obama’s second term.

Good. Anything that gets him out of Massachusetts is WONDERFUL. Except it will be bad for US diplomacy.
Why all the irrational hatred? Is that just your nature?
I hope he isn't offerred the job, or that he doesn't take it. He's important to the state as a Senator. Two freshmen Senators is not in the best interests of Massachusetts, and he does a good job.
I actually heard that the Governor (Patrick) could appoint himself Senator if Kerry went to State leaving an opening for a Governor Brown. Scott would be doing us all a solid by simply driving away.
I'm not sure about the Governor appointing himself, but it would only be an interim appointment. A special election to permanently fill the vacancy has to be held withing 160 days. That's how Scott Brown won the office.
I really think the party is over for Scot Brown. We've seen exactly what he's made of and it's not the right stuff. He spent way too much time messing around with the negative campaigning and the "Native American" baloney. It was like, move on-will ya?
