WASHINGTON (AP) — The sex scandal that felled former CIA Director David Petraeus widened Tuesday to ensnare the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Allen, in a suddenly public drama involving a Tampa socialite, a jealous rival, a twin sister in a messy custody dispute and flirty emails.
The improbable story — by turns tragic and silly — could have major consequences, unfolding at a critical time in the Afghan war effort and just as President Barack Obama was hoping for a smooth transition in his national security team.

"Kelley, 37, served as a sort of social ambassador for US Central Command". General Allen sends her 20,000 to 30,000 pages of emails and documents? An FBI agent sending Kelly shirtless pictures of himself? Sounds to me she's the Heidi Fleiss of Central Command.
Nice to know that while parents are sending their kids over there - putting themselves in harms way fighting for their Country , that those in charge of overseeing the whole operation , and - in charge of protecting them , have time to sit down at their computers and send racy emails to a couple of miltary groupies. This is absolutely incredible if accurate - they are saying that there have been 30,000 emails in two years - from Patraeus - how is that even possible , that is about 40 emails PER DAY .... I can not imagine how this news is sitting with those parents - who have sons or daughters over there , who can not sleep at night over worry and fear for their Safety - only to learn that those in charge are pre occupied with this crap. The kids are fighting - and dying in a war - while the General has his only personal club Med going on over there. Unbelievable ... it really is.

Who the hell has time to send 20,000 emails ? Someone not busy at work !
I dunno....just focussing on the infidelity part of it, and putting aside the mlitary regulations, national security implications etc., if this was his only transgression, and he was faithful for the other 36 years of the 38 year marriage....he's a pretty reliable and good husband, who has a lot of self-control and willpower.
Joe the Plumber gets caught no one cares. Gene the General and it's big news.
Did secrets get compromised? Apparently not?
Then who cares except for the folks who like the titillation.
Of course there is the media. Let's talk about sex instead of the important business of the nation.
In the Civil War, prostitutes were among the camp followers following behind marching troops. Popular legend has it that they were so common around the Army of the Potomac when Union general Joseph Hooker was in command that the term "hooker" was coined to describe them.
AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO SAY THEY WERE WRITING A BIOGRAPHY.
