Governor Christie gets boost in polls after storm

TRENTON, N.J. — Governor Chris Christie surged to a record-high favorability rating following his response to Hurricane Sandy, according to a new poll.

The first-term governor was rated favorably by 67 percent of registered voters, up from 48 percent barely a month earlier, according to a Rutgers-Eagleton Poll released Wednesday. More than nine in 10 respondents said he handled Hurricane Sandy ‘‘very well’’ or ‘‘somewhat well.’’

As my friend from New Jersey said yesterday, "I don't like him, but here's a guy who couldn't be more different politically from Pres. Obama and yet, they found a way to work together to help us." Voters like that. And voters who are in trouble like that even more.
