Susan Rice rejects criticism of her remarks on Benghazi attack

UNITED NATIONS — US Ambassador Susan Rice rejected criticism of her remarks about the deadly attack on an American diplomatic mission in Libya, saying Wednesday that they were based on initial intelligence community assessments.

Rice, favored to succeed Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state, has kept a low profile since being criticized by Republicans for her televised description of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi as developing from a spontaneous protest against an anti-Islamic video. The Obama administration later revised its early assessment and called the assault an organized terrorist attack.

The coodinatd attempt by the GOP to make a "mountain out of a molehill" (and a molehill, at that, for which there are perfectly good explanations and reasons) simply shows the stupid and petty way the party has decided to manipulate public opinion. The GOP will keep losing strength as long as it choses to trivialize itself -- too bad because it would benefit the country to have two parties that are rational and provide real meaningful solutions.

I'll admit that the GOP is going overboard with this when you admit that Obama blatantly lied to the American people in debate number 2 when he stated he called the attack a terrorist attack on Sept 12, in the Rose Garden.

Benghazi is one of those signal events where any criticism one makes has validity. Consider: The Obama regime failed to provide adequate security to the consulate. Worse, they failed to do so as September 11 approached, even in the face of explicit e-mail requests from our people in Libya in August for enhanced security. Worse still, they persisted in "the video made them do it" defense long after that explanation had been discredited by State, CIA, DIA, NSA (and even LL Bean). But worst of all, four Americans died, two of whom (the ex-Seals) did so holding off the enemy while their radio calls for help went completely ignored for more than seven hours. How could this happen? In the final analysis, a citizen has the right, except in rare instances, to be forthrightly informed by his government, and not have to rely on news leaks and surreptitious whistleblowers. To date, the Obama regime has calculatedly stonewalled and withheld information from us about Benghazi that is rightly ours. That is the real crime here.

But Obama had already called it a terrorist attack in the Rose Garden on September 12, 2012. That's what he told us in the debate. Then why, pray tell, is she calling it a spontaneous demonstration for two weeks after that?
