OklahomaBARTLESVILLE — Hours before a gunman opened fire at a Connecticut elementary school, police in Oklahoma arrested a student who allegedly plotted to attack his high school and tried to recruit classmates to help him. Police in Bartlesville arrested Sammie Eaglebear Chavez, 18, shortly before 5 a.m. Friday on charges of conspiring to cause serious bodily harm or death. He was being held Saturday in lieu of $1 million bond.
Invader assaults three Mennonites
LANCASTER — Three elderly Mennonites were tied up and assaulted with a stun gun by a home invader who raged against their faith and vandalized their Bible. The female victims, between 84 and 90 years old, remained hospitalized Saturday. The intruder came to the door of the house in Clay Township on Friday, posing as an insurance salesman, and was let in, police said.

Police fatally shoot gunman at hospital
BIRMINGHAM — A man opened fire in a hospital Saturday morning, wounding an officer and two employees before he was fatally shot by police. Birmingham police said the officer and employees had injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The police responded to a report that a man carrying a gun was walking through St. Vincent’s Hospital.
When the gunman was confronted by officers, he started shooting. That was when the second officer shot and killed the man, officials said.
