WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner pushed ahead on negotiating a broad deal to avert the ‘‘fiscal cliff,’’ even as the GOP leader readied a backup plan Tuesday to pressure the White House with little time left to avoid a double hit on the economy.

That's been the problem all along. You can't negotiate with Boehner and the House because as soon as you give up something in order to compromise, they back up and make new demands. Boehner is irresponsible and untrustworthy. Certainly he's no leader. I wonder if he'll start bawling when he sends the country over the cliff.
Jay Carney says "But he is not willing to accept a deal that doesn’t ask enough of the very wealthiest in taxes and instead shifts the burden to the middle class and seniors" So much for the "President Retools Offer on Revenues" that was the Globe's previous headline. That lasted just one day. Obama isn't cutting any spending, and on top of that he will be INCREASING spending due to "Baseline Budgeting". Don't know about "Baseline Budgeting"? It'll snow in the Sahara before the Globe tells you about it. And the "middle Class" and seniors are already getting the burden from ObamaCare, higher food prices, higher energy prices, energy taxes, higher state and city taxes. The Democrats are planning to tax YOU. Everybody. Because that's where the REAL money is.
Wow. I'd heard complaints that boehner was the world's worst negotiator, but this takes the cake. What is he trying to accomplish? And why can't he stand up to the tea party?
PresidentObama has never intended to change any plans in his policies. His aim appears to have his media friends poke holes at any other suggestions by John Boehner and the Republicans.The silver tongue of the President has a positive affect on the Senate which has a blind eye to the consequences of his elaborate skemes to dictate his plans of a Socialistic Progressive Liberal philosophy and practice that will benefit himself and the Democrats to the detrament of the people of this country.The takers have no clue what is in store in the future of all of us.
