WASHINGTON — Congressional leaders on Sunday showed no signs of resolving the next phase of the financial crisis, with Democrats still talking about higher taxes on the wealthy and the Senate’s top Republican suggesting that a crippling default on US loans was possible unless there are significant cuts in government spending.
‘‘It’s a shame we have to use whatever leverage we have in Congress to get the president to deal with the biggest problem confronting our future, and that’s our excessive spending,’’ said Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky, who appeared on three network news shows Sunday

‘One thing I will not compromise over is whether or not Congress should pay the tab for a bill they’ve already racked up,’’ Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address. Another weekly radio address LIE. Obama won't compromise on ANYTHING. And the AP (Administrations Press) which only a few days ago gloated over the fact the GOP might be "Divided", now is very unhappy if the GOP is not divided over an issue. And its the Democrats who are willing to shut down the government.
Maryland Representative Chris Van Hollen, the top Democrat on the House Budget Committee, said the Republican strategy amounted to: ‘‘Give us what we want . . . or we’re going to tank the United States economy.’’ Pelosi said she believes the president has enough authority under the 14th Amendment to raise the debt ceiling without Congress’ blessing." First, Chris van Hollen's comment: he is actually talking about the leader of his party Barack Obama. Obama is a already tanking the US economy, and has done so for 4 years already. And Nancy Pelosi, who refused to quote a Constitutional amendment that would support her outrageous claim. The same Pelosi who said "You have to pass this bill (ObamaCare) to see what's in it"
