WASHINGTON — Senator John F. Kerry and his wife hold an array of international investments that could pose conflicts of interest for him as secretary of state, and an ethics review is already underway to determine whether he needs to divest holdings, put them in a blind trust, or recuse himself from some discussions, according to Obama administration officials.
Kerry’s 2012 financial disclosure statement details some of the investments that could be seen as problematic if, as expected, he is confirmed as secretary of state. Among them: shares in a Canadian oil company that is lobbying for the Keystone XL pipeline; a stake in Brazil’s energy giant, which was recently accused by Congress of flouting UN sanctions against Iran; and a large investment in a private equity firm seeking deals across Asia.

If John Kerry were a Republican, the Globe 's headline would be Senator's financial holdings WILL pose ethics dilemma.
If Kerry were a Republican, you would claim the sun shines out of his kiester, Mikey. Regardless of his qualifications or lack thereof, your only motivation has always been partisan.
Unfortunately true.

That Kerry (a/k/a "JFK") is an industrial strength fraud and world-class poseur is a proposition unchallenged by anyone who has spent more than five minutes in his company. Consider: as a lawyer, he never tried a case; indeed he would require a GPS to find a courtroom. As a purported Red Sox fan and man of the people, his favorite player was "Manny Ortez". Even his faux PT-109 Vietnam service has been thoroughly discredited by those who were actually there: three months in-country, three Purple Hearts, and not even a scratch? Give me a break.
But there is one facet of his life where Kerry actually is what he appears to be: a marrier of rich women. (As anyone who has been around Theresa knows, this is not all roses. The pay is great, but the hours are long ... on that job.) It is this unmatched skill of Kerry, rather than the dwindling Forbes money, or, God forbid, his own work ethic, that accounts for the Marie Antoinette life-style.
But that doesn't answer all the questions. How was this guy, with no hard skills and who was flirting with bankruptcy at the start of his public career, able to amass a personal fortune in the low nine figures?
That, together with Kerry's arrant selfishness and assiduous self-promotion, is what needs examination.
Well put, LeotheLion! And Agreed. Bravo!
The guy served his country under fire and had guts enough (and it does take guts) to appear before congress and tell what what happening over there. Oh, he couldn't get a ball player's name right! The horror. Maybe it is to a low form of critic.
After the Dems attacks on Romney, what we need to know about kerry is "did he pay a higher tax rate than me..."? As kerry's tax rate was actually LOWER than Romney's he is obviously unfit for higher office, based ont he rules dropped down on Romney.
Kerry, unlike Romney, is not against higher rates for the rich.
Remember when Kerry was running for President and Theresa Heinz, his ketchup heiress spouse, spoke at the Democratic convention about how proud she was to be European? There's no doubt that Kerry is the champion of the 99 percent. Not.
Wow! What patriots the Kerry's are!! Wonder why they have so much money invested in corporations outside of the US who need our government's approvals to have their stocks appreciate in value. It's amazing how little we expect from our "leaders".
Liveshot Kerry is the richest man (by marriage) in the U.S. Senate. Of course he gets his assets examined before he is appointed to a principal government position such as Secretary of State. It would be much more intersting that his assets are listed and valued for public consumption instead of just being divulged by broad standards.
I am more concerned about his awful views
While the 'I hate all things Kerry/Democrat/Massachusetts' message is coming through loud and clear, it still seems to me y'all are sending mixed signals. You cannot in the same breath complain that Democrats always win in MA and then balk at a chance to 'promote' this guy out of the Senate and into the State Dept. It's not like his Senate seat would be waiting for him at the completion of his tenure as Sec. of State.
