Former N.O. mayor Ray Nagin indicted

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was indicted Friday on 21 corruption charges including wire fraud, bribery and money laundering.

The charges come from a City Hall corruption investigation that already has resulted in guilty pleas by two former city officials and two businessmen.

Funny...the article doesn't mention Ray's party. I wonder if he's a Republican or a Democrat.

Municipal elections are commonly non-partisan, as in Massachusetts. I have no idea which party any of my elected city officials are registered as, if they are enrolled at all.

What difference does it make, anyway? Do you have to make *everything* partisan?

From the body of the article... "He cast himself a reform-minded progressive who wasn’t bound by party affiliations, as he snubbed fellow Democrat Kathleen Blanco and endorsed Republican Bobby Jindal’s unsuccessful gubernatorial campaign in 2003."
