AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Thousands of gun advocates gathered peacefully Saturday at state capitals around the U.S. to rally against stricter limits on firearms, with demonstrators carrying rifles and pistols in some places while those elsewhere settled for waving hand-scrawled signs or screaming themselves hoarse.
The size of crowds at each location varied — from dozens of people in South Dakota to 2,000 in New York. Large crowds also turned out in Connecticut, Tennessee and Texas. Some demonstrators in Phoenix and Salem, Ore., came with holstered handguns or rifles on their backs. At the Kentucky Capitol in Frankfort, attendees gave a special round of applause for ‘‘the ladies that are packin'.’’

Well one has to give them credit for passion. But what does it say about a man who holds a flag that says, "Come and get it" as if the government chose to "come and get it" he could stop them. Sadly these folks don't look like they could stop the National Guard never mind the 101st Airborne.
Time to grow up and have a rational conversation. An AR-15 is now the symbol of freedom? God knows I couldn't wait to leave my M-16 behind and I am sure as heck not gonna fight to get it back. I'm not even sure now some of these folks were worth defending, but then patriotic American's have no choice but to support their duly elected govt. even if they sometimes disapprove. At least those with honor. I'm not so sure about those folks.
Well fightin' for shootin' rights sure beats the alternative, a "day of service", yuck-oh! http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2013/01/19/boston-joins-obama-day-service/jRPb5Tji5DZHEjstY3IrmI/story.html
Well, good for them, thousands turned out so not everyone is taking new 7-round magazine laws in NY and MA without a fight.
From independent's perspective these guys make more sense than the Cuomo/Menino/Bloomberg, etc crowd who wants to impose their belief on the whole country.
As one sign I saw in pictures sais, better to vote for a gun nut the liberal without a gun and without nuts.
If only republicans stopped trying to control women health and who can marry who, they'd have many more independent votes to make a difference.
