President Obama urges unity for common good

Calls for action on climate, safety net, gay rights

WASHINGTON — President Obama on Monday used his second inaugural address to urge bipartisan cooperation in enacting a notably activist agenda on issues ranging from economic disparity to gay rights to climate change.

“Now, more than ever, we must do these things together, as one nation, and one people,” Obama told an estimated one million revelers gathered on the National Mall on a sunny, brisk morning to hear him repeat the oath of office.

So what did this day of gala events cost the american people and just how does this relate to the real middle class not Obama middle class and his 47% class??

Replies

All Presidential galas regardless of Party are paid for by "contributions".   Only the official part of the events, "swearing in" etc. are govt. funded.

You also seem a bit confused regarding class.  Of the 47% a good portion of what is considered "middle class" comes from that group. As was once said if one wishes to distort facts it is of great importance to get the facts first.

Barry the O and his Demomob cronies are doing what they can to use the Middle Class like Lenin and Krushchev used the "Working Class" as the foundation of their societal parameters.  Wonder what Barry will turn on to fill the role of the Kulaks that Stalin massacred during the 1930s famines.

OK, we heard Barack Obama's economic policy agenda... Now what's his Foreign Policy agenda? Does he have one? He didn't say, and despite this LONG Globe article, Globe didn't say either.

Be careful Miker6, otherwise LesVal will break out in "Yes WE Can!, Yes WE Can!"  Of course nowadays, it would sound better as "No, WE Can't, No, WE Can't"

BTW, look up LesVal's name on Wikipedia, it will give you a good laugh, especially since he named himself after a pair of body parts, too funny!

The most diversive president ever and still at it and wants to unite everyone against the republicans....my way or the highway and will go around congress if he doesn't get his way, constitution means nothing to him. Let him tell us about Fast & Furious and Benghazi..his administration runs guns to Mexico...but wants to ban guns and why doesn't he go to his home town of Chicago where they have 500 murders a year and they have very strict gun control..And Al Qaeda is well and expanding...look at Benhgazi terrorist at work and this has been swept under the rug...can't wait for Hillary Clinton's lies. What about the economy....wants unlimited access to raising the debt ceiling and before it was unpatriotic of Pres. Bush when he did it and he added $6 trillion in 4 years and trillions more will be added the next 4 years...Can't wait for the taxes on Obamacare...does he think this only effects his rich friends...wait until all the job losses when companies will not higher over 49 full time people. Great job Pres. Obama...trillions more in debt and economy stinks.

It's a fine Tuesday in our America, with the right President for our times sworn in for a second term.

Blah, blah, blah, Trixie. It ain't going to happen, but few will notice and fewer will care.

"Unity?" "Bipartisan cooperation?" "Economic disparity?" "Climate change?" "Immigration?"

Obama's buzz words that he chanted when he decided to ditch the part-time Senate job and campaign for the oval office!

I thought the biggest issue was the economy? Funny, he failed to discusss that - just liberal platitudes and insulting towards "others"

Petty

The disgusting spectacle of Mrs. Obama rolling her eyes while House Speker John Boehner talked with Obama went viral . . . no display of unity coming from this couple!!!!

And jobs? LT unemplyment? Food stamps? debt?

The following ten cities have a great deal in common. The first thing is their poverty level. The second is that they mostly have been governed by Democrats over the years.

  1. Detroit, Michigan – 36.4
  2. Cleveland, Ohio – 35.0
  3. Buffalo, New York – 28.8
  4. Milwaukee, Wisconsin – 27.0
  5. St. Louis, Missouri – 26.7
  6. Miami, Florida – 26.5
  7. Memphis, Tennessee – 26.2
  8. Cincinnati, Ohio – 25.7
  9. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – 25.0
  10. Newark, New Jersey – 23.9

Globe says "Obama, whose first term saw the killing of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, pledged to defend American security after a decade of war in Afghanistan and Iraq. But in a nod to his apparent intent to heighten the role of forceful diplomacy, Obama declared that “enduring security and lasting peace do not require perpetual war.” ...Globe forgot to mention Obama's first term ALSO saw the killing of 4 Americans at Benghazi, Libya on Sept 11 by the same al Qaeda, and in January 2013 saw the killing of American hostages in Yemen, also by the same al Qaeda. ..And here's how Obama's "Forceful Diplomacy" is going. 1) Negotiates peace settlement with the Afghanistan Taliban (so that they can torture and kill women for any reason) 2)Negotiate secretly with Vladimir Putin 3)Negotiates with Mohammed Morsi (so he can issue Sharia Law against women 4) negotiates with Hamas 5) Negotiate with Hezbollas 6) negotiates with China 7) negotiates with Bashir Assad 8) Negotiates with Iran to allow the country to build nukes 9) Negotiates with Mohammed Morsi again to release the Blind Sheik from an American jail. BUT Barack Obama says he will NEVER Negotiate with the one country that is America's REAL enemy: The House G.O.P.

Oops, also I forgot to include 10) Obama negotiates with North Korea, requesting that the country conduct no more than 3 nuclear missile tests per year.
