Thousands march for gun control in Washington

WASHINGTON (AP) — Thousands of people, many holding signs with names of gun violence victims and messages such as ‘‘Ban Assault Weapons Now,’’ joined a rally for gun control on Saturday, marching from the Capitol to the Washington Monument.

"‘‘I wanted to make sure this never happens at my kids’ school or any other school,’’ Baekey said. ‘‘It just can’t happen again.’’

Unfortunately, Ms Baekey, because of the gun-grabbing mindset of the anti-gun nutters, it is going to happen again.

No security on schools, it was much better to demonize the NRA, to do that meant rejecting any idea they put forth.

No federal bill is going to pass that will result in confiscation of assault weapons or large capacity magazines.  As soon as Feinstein saw her chance to "Have Mr. and Mrs. America Turn 'em all in", (at least a goodly number of them) she went for it like a rabid, feral cat pouncing on a mouse.  The result?  She guaranteed a fight with the NRA, gun owners and anyone who actually knows what the Bill of Rights stands for and elected officials who need to get reelected.  Remember, the NRA came out with suggestions, was anyone expecting them to say "Ban guns"?  At least they made an attempt to engage in the process.

So, Ms Baeker, I suggest you go local, start talking about getting some REAL security on your schools.  It sure isn't coming from Washington, aka Hollywood East.

would be a great service if the Globe published all the $ paid to Congressmen and Senators by Gun Manufacturers and the NRA.
