Unpopular cuts likely, Rep. Paul Ryan warns

WASHINGTON — The chairman of the House Budget Committee said Sunday that Republicans will oppose tax increases and, as a result, deep, unpopular budget cuts probably will take effect.

Representative Paul Ryan, a Wisconsin Republican, told NBC’s ‘‘Meet the Press’’ that automatic spending cuts are scheduled to take hold because, ‘‘Democrats have opposed our efforts to replace those cuts with others.’’

I'm all for cutting government spending, let's start with a 90% paycut  to all members of congress. We will all be better offif we take away the that make

Man, Ryan is just obsessed with kicking away the ladder.

We will hurt the country if we don't get our way.   Thanks, Paul.  By the way, how'd that message work in the last election?

Worth a try  - Go for it.  many democrats in congress are incredibly weathly. pelosi and kerry to name a few.

Do the math.  Republicans in Congress take far more in bribes (oops- that's lobbying money) than Democrats. There are many more Repubicans who have been enrivched by the Koch brothers ad their ilk.

Instead of cutting programs for people in need, they should start by cutting all the pork barrel projects and Congressional perks.

In a perverse way, it's good to have this jerk as the face of the GOP in Congress.  If he keeps up his campaign against the people, maybe enough of those people will get angry enough to vote him out of office.

The salary thing is a joke.  More Hollywood East theater.

Spending. No, NO, NO, don't cut it, TAX, TAX, TAX.

Where did they go, which way did dey go?  (the businesses, wealthy people)

THATAWAY, to places they can keep their money.  Rich people do that you know, cause they can afford it.

Of course, the "dream" is one huge happy world, where no one can escape the leveling of wealth, etc.

Gonna be awhile though (damn Sheiks don't like the idea, few others too), in the meantime, after the wealth and business has left this country, gonna get pretty ugly around here.

Can't we all just get along together?  ::::snicker::::

So we can't tax our way out of this but let's just keep raising taxes. Great for growth.

How about Tax REFORM?

How about Paul Ryan runs for president again?   Can you say landslide?   Why are people even THINKING of following this fatuous idiot?

seems nobody wants cuts, let's keep spending and see where we end up, it will be interesting for sure.

We all understand there must be cuts.  The disagreement is over wher they will be.

These Ayn Rand-inspired fantasies have no place in governing the country.  There's a reason why her scribbles referred to as "sophomoric"; it's because most sensible people putgrow this nonsense by their junior year.
