NEW YORK — A conservative Lutheran group has reprimanded a Newtown, Conn., pastor for participating in an interfaith vigil after the Sandy Hook massacre.
The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod said the Rev. Rob Morris of Christ the King Lutheran Church inadvertently gave the impression he condoned joint worship by offering the benediction at the Dec. 16 event for elementary school shooting victims with representatives of other religions.

The Rev. Mr. Harrison should take great care to keep his clerical rainments securely and tightly buttoned lest his great christian heart burst its bounds and fall to the ground. He accepted the transgressors Morris's apology for his base violation of synod policy by participation in an interfaith vigil, which crodsed the line and was in actuality deemed a worship service. . Wait for it. " WHAT A BIG HEARTED GUY"! Yep, He's "ALL HEART!" Just the guy to headup such a big hearted Synod. What more can I say in the face of such magnanimity.
Shame, shame, shame on the Missouri Synod Lutherans! When will this religious bigotry end? Aren't these childrens' death worth putting aside religious differences?
Yes, shame. As a Christian clergyman (of another denomination), I am sorry for this lack of charity. The Missouri Synod would deny this, of course, claiming rather the necessity of doctrinal clarity (and, I suppose, purity). The Apostle Paul, in his first epistle to the Corinthians, wrote: "And I will show you a still better way." That way was, and is, love. The Synod would prefer to be "right" than show the charity expected of followers of the Christ. It is a shame.
So called Christians never cease to amaze me.
Wow, don't think God would think that was very nice.
This is the Missouri Synod for you.
