WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration bowed to demands from Republicans blocking a vote on the nomination of John Brennan to head the CIA on Thursday, stating there are limits to a president’s ability to order drone strikes on US soil against suspected terrorists who are American citizens.

Good for Rand Paul! Nice to see the traditional mechanisms of checks and balances working correctly once in a while.
Now make it the law.
I don't get why the debate is all about weaponized drones. Drones are tools, and hardly the only ones available to the military. Does the administration have the authority to use mortars on US soil against citizens suspected of terrorism? What about RPGs, flame throwers, nerve gas, Navy Seals teams, helicopter gunships? What's so special about drones ... other than the fact that discussing drones is fashionable at the moment?
