An investigator with the California Highway Patrol examined the remains of a bus involved in a deadly collision that occurred Thursday evening.
Ten people were killed and dozens were injured after a tractor-trailer crossed a grassy center divider and slammed into a bus carrying high school students.
The students were on a trip to a university in Northern California. Five of them were among the dead.

“This was a horrific collision,” said Larry Jones, the sheriff and coroner of Glenn County. “The impact was heard throughout the community,” as far as a quarter mile away.
California Highway Patrol Officer Joe Stokes cleared away crime scene tape.
Authorities said Friday that it could take months to determine what caused the accident.
