Jon Huntsman refuses to rule out possibility of independent candidacy for president

Republican Jon Huntsman today refused to rule out running as an independent candidate for president should he fail in his quest for his party’s 2012 nomination. Asked, “Is there any situation in which you would run for president as an independent?” Huntsman said, “I don’t think so.” Told that anything but a flat denial could perpetuate speculation about the possibility, Huntsman replied: “I’m a lifelong Republican. I’m running as a Republican, and I fully anticipate that that’s where we’re going to be.”

"I'm a lifelong Republican. I'm running as a Republican, and I fully expect that's where we're going to be". Boy, that's a pretty strong statement. Sure makes this story appear to be the worst form of inaccurate journalism.

"Today we have a president who can't lead." Can't lead because one half of the politicians in Washington would rather destroy the country than follow him. Can't lead because he tries to find middle ground between the between the two political parties when there is none. When one party is dedicated to the betterment of the country while the other is dedicated to its destruction, the only course a leader can take is to choose sides and dedicate himself to the destruction of the other, and Obama cannot do that. Therefore, we have a president who can't lead. Huntsman is right.
