Joseph P. Kennedy III announced this morning that he is forming a congressional exploratory committee, but he had a much simpler message for any potential rivals: stay away. The rhetoric of his announcement, coupled with his decision to resign his job as a county prosecutor, showed that this will not be some half-hearted examination for the son of a congressman but the beginnings of a methodical campaign to win the seat currently held by US Representative Barney Frank.

I have an idea. Let's not bother with Democratic primaries anymore for offices in Washington anymore. Like Ms Warren before him, the political elite in this state will pick the candidate for us, and tell us how to think and who to vote for. Then after the general election in November, the appointed representatives can enjoy their seat so long as they please, so long as they follow the political ideology of the political elite. Who needs democracy anyway?
