Mitt Romney releases letter from Mass. conservative leaders

Facing doubts about his philosophical credentials, Republican Mitt Romney today released a letter from Massachusetts conservative luminaries aiming to clarify his record while the state’s governor. “Some press accounts and bloggers have described Governor Romney in terms we neither have observed nor can we accept,” wrote the group, which included former Boston Mayor Raymond L. Flynn, gay marriage opponent Kris Mineau, and Harvard Law School professor Mary Ann Glendon. They also say Romney “stood for religious freedom,” a hot-button topic.
