Newt Gingrich plans to defeat Rick Santorum in southern states Tuesday

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is setting his sights on beating former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum in the southern states that vote on Tuesday. In talk show appearances this morning, Gingrich attacked Santorum for his economic policies, and said he will not drop out and give Santorum a chance to go head to head with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. “When I was speaker of the House, we led an effort that led to four balanced budgets,” Gingrich said on “Fox News Sunday.” “When Rick was in leadership, they ran up a $1.7 trillion deficit. There are very big differences.”
