With Santorum’s exit, Romney completes nomination quest

Mitt Romney has spent eight years seeking the Republican presidential nomination, first running for governor of Massachusetts and then a leadership role at the Republican Governors Association before making his first White House bid in 2008. He was the last credible challenger to the eventual nominee, John McCain, and today became that himself as Rick Santorum dropped his own run for the 2012 nomination. It puts Romney in a place where he has sought to be for nearly a decade.
