Senator Scott Brown today rejected a debate proposed by Victoria Reggie Kennedy, after she refused his precondition that she not endorse a candidate in his reelection campaign against Elizabeth Warren. “We respect Vicki Kennedy’s decision but we regret that we cannot accept a debate invitation from someone who plans to endorse Scott Brown’s opponent,” the Brown campaign said in a statement. Kennedy had said she would not agree to Brown’s demand that she remain neutral in the race.

It seems kind of silly for Brown to insist on Vicky's neutrality. Anyone who doesn't know she'll be endorsing Liz is a moron. Anyone who would let her endorsement affect their vote is even more of a moron.
He'll go on his buddy Dan Rea's radio program, though. Brown is so shallow he's afraid of questions.
Obviously, the system has failed you. Take your narrow mind over to Faux News or the Herald.
Oddly, this makes some sense. I think there is more to the story that we don't know. I'm willing to bet that the widow Kennedy's team left open the possibility that Brown would be walking into very lopsided event. I don't blame her/threm for leaving that possibility open nor do I blame him for asking the two conditions he did. I think there is some opportunity to have this but it will take compromise. I'd like to see it happen.
Imposing conditions makes the Senator look weak, moreso than declining the invitation would have been. He should run on the strength of his record and the strength of his political philosophy. If that is not enough to win re-election he will still have his honor, and it would not prevent him from having a future political career. If he resorts to dirty tricks in order to win no one will ever take him seriously.
Name 3 questions he's afraid of. If you are lucky, you'll come up with some hodgepodge assumption from your own files. I call BS on your post.
And the Widow Kennedy didn't have any conditions? Of course she's not ruinning herself but she certainly is by some level of proxy.
Sorry..... "running".
Yawn.. Your right wing nut job rhetoric is so boring. No one bothers to read your garbage...Oh wait they read it over at the hererd right along with that other nut job Howie bore...BORING
I think Scotty should hold out until Mrs. Kennedy agrees to let him complete her ballot for her.
So is the organization non-partisan or isn't it? Nobody's stopping Vicky Kennedy from voting for or donating to whomever she wants, but she can't go out in public and endorse someone (or bash Scott, as she's done in the past) and still cling to the mantle of being "non partisan".
Well said!
What were her conditions, or are you assuming they must exist? If he doesn't want to debate in what he perceives as hostile territory then he is free to refuse, and as of now, he has. It makes him look weak, especially if Warren accepts a debate without conditions in similarly hostile territory. He'll need to work that much harder to get attention focused on his strengths. It's still his election to lose.
These reindeer games diminish all involved. Brown had no intention of debating here from the get-go, but you can blame his handlers as much as him. Every decision, every word, every vote he's made has come at a glacial pace and after his "braintrust" has considered every political angles for him. True, Warren, a great unknown with a lackluster campaign thus far, could be worse, but Brown remains an all-too-well known, running as much for that fine, taxpayer-financed Senate gym as much as anything else.
The organization is non-partisan but Vicky Kennedy is a citizen with every right to speak her mind on political matters. How is that hard to understand? It's preposterous that Brown would demand to limit her freedom of expression. Did he similarly investigate the owners of WBZ-TV and scrutinize their voter registration or donation history before agreeing to that debate?' he didn't seem to have much of a problem with debating at the Kennedy Institute two years ago. If I recall correctly, he had one of his best moments there. This kind of posturing is unbecoming to a sitting Senator.
1. If solving the deficit is, by his account, the most important goal of Congress, and the majority of economists agree that the deficit cannot be reduced through cutting spending alone, why has he signed Grover Norquist's pledge against raising revenues? 2. If, as he claims, our problems are rooted in the fact that we can't compete with China because of high costs and regulation, does he expect to "even the playing field" by reducing or eliminating the minimum wage and stripping workplace safety laws? 3. Brown claimed in his book that he needed government financial aid to make it through Tufts as an undergrad. Earlier this year he voted to significantly cut those same programs that helped him. Does he think he could have made it to where he is without that help, and if not, why should current or prospective students bear more of a burden so he can keep more of his large income? I coudl go on, Rileysdad, but you only asked for three, and I have a feeling you wouldn't care what the answers are anyway.
Warrens Indian side coming out. It is called an ambush. Next they will offer Barney Frank as mediator.
What a nerve he has to demand that of Mrs. Kennedy. Fear is a terrible burden to carry, Scott Brown. Remember that democrat Franklin Roosevelt: "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself?"
tooguns..you must have read it. Kinda makes you a boor, not to be confused with bore.
Very reasonable. Of course the Kennedy institute and Vicki Kennedy is partisan. Scott Brown's only other choice was to ask Fox News to sponsor a debate with Rush Limbaugh as moderator. Perhaps Liawatha would have agreed to that?
And .. how does Liawatha avoid talking to the ACTUAL Cherokee that came to Massachusetts to discuss her 'heritage' with her? How does the Boston Globe not cover this? Please tell me of any agrieved people that could come to the State with a complaint against Scott Brown that the Boston Globe wouldn't put page one, top of the fold?
Little Scotty's a wuss, afraid of debating big, bad Elizabeth. He should be, she's ten times smarter than he. Scotty Brown, a true Republican in make believe independent's clothing. Vote the turkey out.
Actually, he did that when he offered to debate on TKK and the Dan Rea show.
Oh, Scott, who is advising you. Go to the debate and show us what a strong, bipartisan Senator you are. Don't be afraid of Elizabeth and Vicky. I think Gail could probably protect you from those mean girls. She'll tell you what to say. You can practice while you fold the laundry. Don't forget to remind your friend, Dan Rea, you expect him to remain neutral in the election. I know you are all about fairness.
Senator Brown would be a fool to walk into that lions den. Vicki and the rest of the moonbats were outflanked by Brown. Lizzy Little Feather is afraid to meet with her Cherokee "relatives". What a poor execuse for a candidate she is. I thought that she as interested in meeting people just like her with high cheekbones etc. And finally, Vicki Kennedy has NO standing with the electorate.
