LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – President Obama aggressively attacked Republican opposition to immigration reform on Friday while trumpeting his steps to make it easier for the children of illegal immigrants to stay in the country legally.
At a conference of Latino officeholders that Mitt Romney addressed a day earlier, Obama criticized his Republican opponent several times, although never by name, for opposing legislation that would provide a pathway to citizenship for certain illegal immigrants.

There appears to be strong public sentiment to provide some resolution to the issue of illegal immigration, including support for a path to employment for those who took advantage of the educational opportunities offered to them by this country, or served this country in the military. I believe we Americans are compassionate and sensible citizens, and many can trace how our own paths here may have been forged by immigration and assimilation. However, Obama and his handlers would be wise to understand there are also clear limitations to what Americans will find acceptable, and I am starting to think Obama may have to begin making concessions to Latinos that other potential voters will find objectionable. Recent polls show a majority of Americans support some type of resolution for the children and young adults of illegal immigrants, but it is unclear what those terms and conditions are. Article after article in the Globe and other media outlets about Obama's policy on illegal immigration focus primarily on Latinos and the election, including this one, but there is very little coverage about the thoughts and opinions of the rest of potential voters and citizens on what they believe is a reasonable policy. Unlike Romney, who included the eonomy in his speech, Obama focused solely on immigration reform. Are there no other issues affecting this country that this organization is concerned with? Is this view reflective of the Latino population in this country? If so, that is divisive, and could impact support for Obama as well as the goodwill of the citizens of this country.
Well as an old operative you have to get a kick out of the disparity in response by the crowd to the two speeches. Mitt has himself in a bit of a box with the Latino vote and may have to take a pass on the issue. As to the issue it is one that has never really excited me. One hears the horror stories but I was hearing those back in the 80's and they were just as politically hyped then as they are now. Reagan knew it was BS got sick of hearing it and went with amnesty. This immigration "issue" rises to the top time and again in American politics and has since the beginning of the nation. Most of us know what underlies the issue and tend to ignore it until some pol decides it will make a good issue. Eventually the issue will wear out its welcome, not be a winner and the two parties will cut a deal, end of discussion till the next time. Immigration is like the change of clothing styles, wait long enough and it'll come back.
Actually if you listened to the speech he did speak on the economy. I'm not taking a position on the policies but merely pointing out that he did address the issue.
Has anyone noticed that Obama is sounding like Reverend Wright his favorite preacher, a big time Hater! His speeches are sounding more and more like Sundays at the Rev. Wrights church which the Obama's' attended for years until Obama was forced to drop his friend so he would stand a better chance at becoming the president. Obama keeps digging away and pretty soon will be out of office. That is a Good thing!

NOTICE that Obama says NOTHING about the illegal gun-running operation called "Fast and Furious", that was sponsored by Obama and Holder. These same Hispanics' relatives and countrymen in Mexico are being MURDERED because of these high powered weapons that were allowed to "walk" into Mexico.---------- And the Globe, which has avoided printing this topic for over a year, only printed it yesterday because it was national news.------- But the Globe cannot wait soon enough to WIPE this news right off the newspaper's pages.------------ Obama on Thursday used his Executive Priviledge to avoid making Eric Holder hand over the remaining 90% of the documents related to the Congressional investigation. -----------------The reason for this unprecedented (and probably unconstitutional) use of Executive Priviledge, means one and only one thing: Barack Obama and Eric Holder both LIED to Congress when they said they had no knowledge of the operation. And there is obviously some VERY DAMAGING evidence that Holder and Obama do not want the public to know. And especially they do not want the Hispanic public to know. ---------------------------- And as far as this being the first time obama has invoked Executive Priviledge, it can't be for some national security secret. After all Obama had no problem leaking classified military secrets about the bin Laden operation and current US intelligence efforts against Iran's nuclear weapons program.
I do believe this a program started during the Bush years, but hey it really doesn't matter. Another political hype issue interesting to only the zealots on either side. The rest of us yawn.
Republican hypocrisy knows no bounds and Miuttens is the poster boy when it comes to being a world class hypocrite.
