Presidential campaigns still sparring over Bain Capital

Obama camp presses Romney on tax returns

WASHINGTON — President Obama’s reelection campaign continued to hammer Mitt Romney on Sunday on the length of his tenure at Bain Capital and his limited disclosure on tax returns, while Romney’s side called the Democrats’ attacks an attempt to distract voters from the weak economy.

The Obama team rejected the Republican challenger’s demand that Obama apologize for his campaign’s suggestion last week that Romney might have committed a felony if the federal disclosures he filed about his work at Bain turn out to inaccurately reflect his role in the company.

The "money quote" ends this hilarious piece. The spokesperson for the only candidate in history to invest so much money in so many overseas businesses (after all, that IS what all those "offshore" Bain companies were) says: "[we need to make it] more attractive to invest here in the United States, rather than make them more attractive to go overseas, which is what the Obama policies do." The policies of Barack Obama didn't make Mitt Romney open all those secret offshore Bain Capital entities, just like the policies of Barack Obama didn't destroy all those companies and jobs that Bain Capital killed. Mitt Romney was a financial vampire who sucked his prey dry. He has no business running for, never mind attaining, the office he seeks.

So help me out here. Criticism of Mitt is "vilification." What does that make your posts about liberals? Besides libel, I mean.

Perhaps TheSystemWorked is mistakenly commenting on a different article. This piece is about whether or not Bain Capital filed accurate statements to the SEC, whether or not Mitt Romney filed accurate disclosures with the federal election commission, and how the Romney campaign's statements about offshoring can be reconciled with the documented actions of its candidate. Like it or not, the reality of Mitt Romney's predatory business practices will stay front-and-center in this campaign. They reveal, perhaps not surprisingly, that Mr. Romney's pleasure in bullying classmates in his prep school is not dissimilar from his pleasure in sucking the blood out of Bain Capital acquisitions. We are seeing the real Mitt Romney in all this -- no matter how rapidly his supporters wave their hands.

Bain is just the tip of the iceberg.. if anything it is keeping people from remembering they said they would never vote for him because he is the biggest Socialist Governor RINO cult member father of Obamacare.

And, of course, there's the even bigger question about what's in the tax returns that he refuses to release. There's something there he doesn't want us to know about or he wouldn't be withholding them.

Mitt may well have done nothing illegal, but this will not be brought under control until he releases some tax returns besides two. Problem with that is that even without illegal activities one has the feeling these tax returns are going to show a man heavily invested outside of the US. That will not be pretty.

**********"The Obama administration has failed to meet a legal deadline for scanning all shipping containers for radioactive material before they reach the United States, a requirement aimed at strengthening maritime security and preventing terrorists from SMUGGLING A NUCLEAR DEVICE into any of the nation's 300 sea and river ports. The Department of Homeland Security was given until this month to ensure that 100 percent of inbound shipping containers are screened at foreign ports. But the department's secretary, Janet Napolitano, informed Congress in May that she was extending a two-year blanket exemption to foreign ports because the screening is proving too costly and cumbersome. She said it would cost $16 billion to implement scanning measures at the nearly 700 ports worldwide that ship to the United States".****Oh ya-- let's talk about Bain-- Much more important********************"MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- An agronomist says much of southern Wisconsin's corn crop could be lost unless the region gets a significant amount of rain in the next week. The National Weather Service doesn't have any soaking rain in the forecast in the next week, although there's a 50 percent chance for showers Friday and Saturday".*****Corn is in our FUEL TANKS. There is a push to increase the amount of ethanol used for fuel. Should we become dependent on a fuel that is subject to the weather??? I don't know but a discussion on that would be nice. ----Oh wait-- Let's discuss BAIN---Rev Wright anyone? How many vacations has the president taken?I know it is summer, but could WE PLEASE FOCUS!!!!!!!!!!

Mitt Romney should offer Pres. Obama a deal. Romney releases more tax returns in return for Obama releasing documents about the gun walking scandal and the name of the White House staff member who has been leaking national security secrets.

Hogwash. Even your source material only says "Is there just a teeny-weenie chance that this was an evening of Israel-bashing Obama would find very difficult to explain?" You're just making stuff up again.

Good call. Then you can provide the names of Globe writers and Fehrnstrom operatives using aliases to post in the comments section!

Why is the Globe insisting on this Machiavellian action in collusion with the Democratic party to tarnish Bain Capital? Why is the Globe failing to provide readers with an accurate profile of the many, many new businesses Bain Capital has helped finance? Why are the Linda Masons' and the many other people who have received Bain Capital funding for their enterprise/organizational 'start-ups' failing to come forward in defense of Bain Capital?

attaturk - a vote for Gov. Romney ensures you too may have money to invest.

esf, What's with this obsession of yours? Try to respond rationally to the arguments of other posters instead of indulging your own fantasies about the "true identities" of those posters.

Good grief 'who-cares-1940' - you have your priorities way - way - off balance if you think the "bigger question" is tax returns?????? Garbage question: ask how Obama managed to become a multimillionaire in 4 years after needing to borrow money to buy his home in Chicago?

WOW - this is getting vile!

Too vile - much, much too vile - and not enough facts or legitimate content.

While we're on the subject of transparency, care to disclose your relationship with the Romney campaign?

The question is did he file false documents to the SEC or has been lying to the public for 12 years. Let see what the IRS documents have to say. Let see the tax returns back to 1998 and what is in those overseas accounts. A little transparency can get us to the truth. Mitt stop LYIN!

Mitt we gave you a walk on the bullying of the gay kid--but if you want to be President we need to know your not a job stealing lying thief

If it walks like a sockpuppet and talks like a sockpuppet, what's the point of engaging?

Good grief Cantabrigian01 - you have your priorities way - way - off balance if you don't think we have a decade of Obama tax returns for you to search for discrepancies. If you don't think there's something in those tax returns that are detrimental to Romney's future, you have right to your opinion since we don't have those returns, do we? We're talking about Romney here. Bringing up Obama is an invalid rhetorical tactic to deflect the argument. Obviously you have nothing valuable to say.
