Vice presidential fever struck Republicans Monday as Mitt Romney’s visit with Bobby Jindal in Louisiana fueled speculation about who would get the number two spot on the ticket and whether that announcement could come in the next few days.
Romney’s campaign has two remaining windows for announcing the pick. The first extends until the end of next week, when he is scheduled to depart for the Summer Olympics in London and visits to Israel and Poland. He is not slated to return to the United States until July 31.

90 degrees with high humidity and Mitt's "relaxing" outdoors in a dress shirt and jeans? Who dresses like that? Maybe Mitt's a robot.
ROMNEY/HOOVER 2012
I can't wait to see who Willard names as a vice-presidential pick. All the likely people he has trotted out for public view so far look like someone flailing around hoping to find someone that ekes him out a few more votes from people he's disregarded up to this point. Never forget that given a choice between Willard Romney and Sarah Palin, McCain had to choose Sarah Palin because Willard Romney was just going to cost him support.

Obama/Jeremiah Wright 2012.
Gov. Romney has come across as risk-averse, but also one who embraces traditional tactics. Since the VP is the President's liason to the Senate I would expect him to favor someone with experience in the Senate and/or the House. Gov. Jindal would be a high-risk choice, as would Sen. Rubio. Sen. Ayotte would be too 'regional.' Gov. Pawlenty is somewhat safe, but MN might be seen as a lost cause. Sen. Portman is a logical choice, since Ohio is a swing state. The same would hold for Rep. Ryan of Wisconsin. Conversely, Gov. Romney may still feel a need to shore up the GOP base, which may be his motivation for talking to John Thune (SD). The perception would also be that Sen. Thune would help endear the 'Northeastern Governor' to 'the West.' My prediction is Sen. Thune, although Sec. Rice would be the most courageous choice. Gov. Romney actually needs all the foreign policy help he can get. Huntsman would be a good choice for Sec. of State, if Gov. Romney wins in November.
ROMNEY/BACHMANN 2012
I'll bet the Globe JUST CAN'T WAIT soon enough for Romney to announce his VP. They are licking their chops, ready to BASH and SMEAR whoever the choice is. -----------Hey, Glen. Why don't you entertain the readers by telling us all of the DIRT and SCANDALS that each candidate has? And, if per chance, there any JUICY ones, what is your newspaper planning to INVENT?
