Israelis mostly shrug as Mitt Romney visits

Many say they do not know much about him

JERUSALEM — Mitt Romney arrives here Saturday, embarking on the meatiest portion of his foreign trip in a far different position than President Obama did four years ago: as a relative unknown.

The presumptive Republican nominee, trying to peel away Jewish support for Obama, is eager to cast himself as a better friend of Israel than the current administration. Recent polling and interviews illustrate some dissatisfaction with Obama — the result of perceived snubs of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calls for freezing of settlements in the Palestinian territories, and an unwillingness so far to visit the country as president.

Matt: You need to try to hide your dislike for Romney a bit more and at least try to appear tht you are an unbiased jounalist. Did you get this directly from the Obama campaign?

Momandengineer, you are so right. The headline could have been, "Israelis getting to know Mitt Romney" or even "Romney visits Israel but Obama doesn't."

Romney is not a "Friend of Israel"; he is a friend of the Israeli Right Wing. Viser's reporting is accurate and appropriate.

Mitt who?

Matt Viser appears to be an Obama operative or on the Democratic pay-roll. Is this a way the Globe is now cutting costs by having their reporters paid by the Democratic party? Every vitriol article Matt Viser writes certainly supports the Globe's rant against former governor Mitt Romney.
