Scott Brown declined bigger GOP convention role

TAMPA - Senator Scott Brown said today he was asked to play a bigger role at the Republican National Convention but limited his attendance to a single day because of scheduling demands, not concern about fallout for his reelection campaign.

“Obviously, me being here is important in that, you know, it shows that someone who’s a pro-choice moderate Republican is here as part of the big tent that we have, and should have, and will continue to have with my involvement here,” he said. “And while I don’t agree with everything in the platform and/or with Governor Romney, I have a lot of respect for him and vice versa.”

So now the cat is out of the proverbial bag.  Scott Brown can not stand up as a Republican and either say I support this Romney/Ryan ticket or I profoundly disagree with their destructive politics.  He proxies with his daughter no less.  I am sure his name will be mentioned but the coward will not as yet speak to a wider audience.  His supporters who think he is some kind of independent thinker should know he is a through and through Mitch McConnell Republican.  He will sit in the audience as a follower not as a leader, exactly as his voting record has indicated all along.

I hope that the voters in Massachusetts will keep in mind that Scott Brown will be expected to support the Republican platform if he is reelected as a Senator from MA. He claims he is bipartisan, but he votes with the party when it counts--when the vote is close. Most importantly, if reelected, he will cast the deciding vote to give to control of the Senate to a largely very conservative group of Republican senators. GOP Platform calls for a ban on all abortions, reshaping Medicare, deep cuts to Medicaid and reinstating money that was cut from the military budget if Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are elected in November.

This approach by Brown will only ensure that we in Massachusetts will have one very weak senator if he is re-elected.  The Tea Party favorite approach got him elected to begin with and now in office this career politican only wants to be reelected and not work really hard at this job.

If you haven't realized by now that Scott Brown in lighter than air, you're not paying attention. As reported, "Brown would not specify what expanded role he was asked to play at the convention..." I would not be surprised if he was asked to play no role at all! Did you ever hear/see a publicity opportunity that Scott Brown didn't like? Photo ops, book signings, recommendation, fund-raisers, TV show, radio interviews, 60 Minutes,Guard photos, endorsements, etc. Or is this another delusional case of wanting to be "the guy" and not having the chops to make it, invent an excuse that puts him in the center of everything. View his ads, his releases (ignore the Kings and Queens lie and the Hillary Clinton lie) and check some of his "other worldly experiences." Actually, you can start with Mitt's "walking with MLK" mirage. Vote for Elizabeth Warren and regain a senator we can be proud of. http://mittromneysflipflops.com/

Joan Vennochi has had the best perspective on the Senate Race. Sad that her suspension will silent her words at this critical time.

I think everyone below got it right. The boy senator wants to in the Senate to grovel and purr at the feet of the mcconnell machine. He is, as he always has been...a follower. A position that has never, ever been the MO of any Massachusetts senator....democrat or republican. His lame out stretching to the voters via those laughable, obvious TV ads are so transparent. L'il scotty driving around in his stupid, prop truck, huddling with the fishing people, touting his NG service in DC....boy what a tough assignment! No l'il scotty...you had your shot and you failed miserably. The only people you fooled are the humble ones who put a scott brown sign in their front yard...those who probably believe there is a Cape Cod tunnel because you (figuratively) told them there was one. Perhaps you can take it home after being defeated in November...
