Fact-checkers dispute Romney claims

WASHINGTON — From the economy and Medicare to foreign policy and the genesis of his own fortune, Mitt Romney’s assertions in Tampa are coming under close scrutiny, with some of the Republican presidential nominee’s statements just as empty as the chair in Clint Eastwood’s shtick.

Romney won applause from GOP convention delegates with this zinger: “I will begin my presidency with a jobs tour. President Obama began with an apology tour.”

Clearly the candidates and incumbents are going to push the boundaries during these events. I'm glad people are fact checking. The ratings of "Pinocchio's" and "Pants on fire" seem childish. I hope that following the DNCC, PolitiFact adds a "Nobel" rating to indicate which candidate is truly deserving of a particular award based on the merits of that award.

A stupid comment. Obama did not select himself for the Nobel prize, and the members of the Nobel prize committee are not runing for President. If any of them were, they would still clearly be more honest than either Romney or Ryan.

More fodder for the Democratic convention and debates. I have no respect for liars. Romney and Ryan are living in some sort of alternate reality, making it up as they go. They didn't do what they did, didn't say what they said, and make up false stories about opponents. Kids in grammar school know better than these two mental defectives.

I guess in 2012 Shakespeare would have Dick and Cade plan to kill all the fact-checkers instead of the lawyers.

You have to wonder if Mr. Romney can actually tell the difference between campaign rhetoric and outright falsehood.  If he were to win the Presidency, I wouldn't be able to tell if he meant the words of the Presidential Oath when he said them at inauguration.  How would you know?

How Stupid are We the People to even think of electing someone like him?  Oh, yeah, we elected George Jr. twice. OMFG!

The first time's not our fault-it belongs to the US Supreme Court.

This article just picks out the most blatant lies. There are some other important ones that might only rate 2 or 3 Pinnochios. For example, there is the myth that Romney "saved" the Winter Olympics with his managerial skill. In fact, he also needed almost $1 billion in taxpayer money from the Federal government. So, Mitt - when it comes to the Winter Olympics, did you really "build that"?
