Mitt Romney ad on welfare ‘handout’ is faulted

Obama allowed waivers sought by governors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Retiree Brenda Rembert worked in the food stamp division of North Carolina state government and says she viewed up close the consequences of social welfare programs.

“I saw the third and fourth generation of people looking for a handout,’’ said Rembert, a delegate to the GOP convention in Tampa. “I believe in working for what you got.’’

It would appear that Romney's ad meets and exceeds all democratic party standards on accuracy, validity, and integrity. maybe the Globe should present a similar article on inaccurate political ads by the Democrats to show balance.

ould the Boston Herald, The WallStreet Journal, and The Washington Tmes, to mention a few, present a balanced view? Would any of the hundreds of right wing radio enternainers present a balanced view ? I think you already know the answer! No one is twisting your arm to read the globe.

There are NO work requirements on the food stamp program...I know a woman who gets over $300 in food stamps, free health care, subsidized apartment and other handouts. Her children are 6 and 10...she just collects child support from the dad's and treats herself to drinks at the bar and Dunkin Donuts...just like her mom and her grandmom...and she sees no need to work unless she can get something under the table... That's the reality...

I doubt your scenario because you can't possibly know the entire situation of a casual acquaintance, but many people who would ordinarily be required to work to obtain food stamps are exempt from the work requirement from 2009 until the end of September this year. The requirement was temporarily lifted by the Dept. of Agriculture because of the recession. It ends in 2 weeks.

Of course, there are no restrictions how anyone spends child support from a former husband.

"The trouble is, the charge is false."

Romney has finally pushed the press to the point that they HAVE to do their jobs or become a laughing stock.  One blatant lie after another and the press responded with a "shape of the earth, views differ" approach.  But this was so blatantly false that if the press were to fail to point out that it is utter baloney they would become irrelevant.

Just as terrifying is if Romney gets elected by running the most medacious campaign in modern history.  Sure, politicians always stretch the truth, but Mitt has been an outright liar.  If Mitt wins, we will never hear anything remotely true in any campaign ever again.
