Menino says Warren ‘would have my back, and so I have hers’

BOSTON — Democratic Senate hopeful Elizabeth Warren won the backing of Boston Mayor Thomas Menino on Friday as incumbent Republican US Sen. Scott Brown ramped up his criticism of Warren’s legal work in an asbestos case.

Menino, a Democrat, made the endorsement Friday afternoon at a Warren rally in Roslindale. Menino said he held off announcing his decision until now because he wanted to take time to get to know Warren and her positions better.

Better late than never as long as the full throated response today turns into action.  Boston is key to a Elizabeth Warren win and Scott Brown knows it.  This is why he is tilting at the windmills of a person's heritage of no consequence to her position and prestige and a legal case whose complexities hide his nefarious intentions.  On the issues he is a dye in the wool Republican and a Romney deciple.  His voting record is blantant proof of where he stands and it not with the working people of this country.  He main claim is preserving tax cuts.  However he supports subsidies to Oil Companies, a tax burden for the rest of the country, and holding hostage tax relief for 98% of the population until 3% of the population gets a break they don't need.

So what's wrong with his voting record?  Truth is, he angers lots of Conservatives because he votes too often with Democrats.

Let me tellyou a story.  Back a couple of months ago, I wrote to Kerry, Brown and my Congressman, Markey about some issue that at the time bothered me enough to write to them about their prospective vote.  It took Markey and Kerry about 3 weeks or a month to get back to me with a boilerplate generic answer about how they love to hear from their constituents and if I needed personal help I could contact their Massachusetts office, etc., etc.

Not the same at all from Brown.  I heard from him within a week and was absolutely amazed at his answer.  He directly addressed the bill I wrote about, told me his thought processes and that he had not yet made a decision on how he would vote, but that he would take my comments into consideration before deciding what to do. He said he would read the bill, and consider what he thought was best for Massachusetts and the nation.  It was NOT boilerplate.  It may have been writtn by an aide, I don't know for sure.  But it was by far the best response I ever had from a politician in Washington.

Lizzie Warren could not hold a candle to the likes of a man like Scott Brown.  She would be just one more ditto politician from Massachusetts who would vote 100% with Obama and the DNC, no matter what the bill or how it would affect either Massachustts or the country.  We already have too many like her in our Washington contingent as it is.  I'll be voting for Scott Brown.

So Martec I assume you are a conservative and are wishing for yesteryear.  Brown was crude and insulting in his first debate with Warren.  Any checking on the veracity of his statements would show he is off the beam.  You must have caught him on a good day in terms of help.  I asked for help myself and I only got lip service.  Getting help on a personal issue however is the not the major work of a Senator.  We who support EW do want the Congress to help President Obama enact his agenda. The Mass representation is Democratic as is most of New England.  We are also some of the most prosperous states in the Union.  We live in a terrific state.  Our representation should reflect our values. At present Republicans take an obstructionist stance.  The only way to stop it is to elect more Democrats to break the gridlock.  Persuasion has not worked.  You obviously think Sen Brown is aligned with our state goals.  I don't.   So we'll have to see Nov 6th.  By the way you have no idea how a Warren office would respond to your requests so that argument is not germane.

All this did was tie up traffic in Rozzie Square. It is not unreasonable to expect that some material percentage of the "supporters" who showed up at this rally will vote for Brown. He will do well in Boston.

I'm sure you wouldn't be complaining about the traffic if Menino was endorsing Brown, so that makes your comment beside the point.

Poor Mumbles...he finally had to give in to the political pressure and endorse Lyin' Lizzie.  But I'll bet anything when he goes into that voting booth in November, he'll vote for Scott Brown, as will thousands and thousands of Democrats in Massachusetts.

You're really a nasty person, aren't you? "Mumbles"? "Lyin' Lizzie"?

Nobody with any sense would pay attention to the opinions of mannerless people who depend on insulting names to cover their lack of intelligent points to discuss.

I've always been a Menino supporter but I will NOT be following him this time in supporting Warren. Scott Brown is a moderate who is not afraid to cross party lines if necessary. We need people like that in Washington.

Scott Brown is not a moderate.  He waits until he sees if the wind will blow in his favor and then he votes.  He only crossed party lines 2 times since he has become a senator.  To bad trucker Brown is having such a hard time with a strong woman who is not afraid to take him on.

Poor Scott Brown, he is running scared.  Guess the truck and barn coat aren't doing it this time.  He has run into a formidible force and one who will not run from a fight.  He is an empty suit fighting a woman of substance.

Don't count on constituent services from Scott Brown as we did with Ted Keenedy.Ted's office was outstanding. Many undecideds have said that Scott Brown is a "nice guy" but Warren has more substance. Why,on earth, would being "nice"be a reason to support a candidate? Does 'nice' mean we're all welcome to vote for him in the big tent? Menino came to his senses when he decided to support Elizabeth Warren because of her stance on issues, her record and her dedication to struggling people, even though he has said that he found Brown to be "nice. He described Brown as wishy-washy on issues that mattered. I'm encouraged that Menino will be helping with the voter mobilization and turnout.
